Bio
Reed is an SF Bay Area artist who uses double exposure photography and ceramics to initiate conversation around the environment and identity, pushing viewers to question their relationships to the land around them. Within those more broad themes, as a queer person, they are also curious about land’s role in holding space for the Queer community. While queerness is often associated with urban spaces, queer experience is natural, and many in the community have deep and mutually affecting relationships with the land.
In all of their work, Reed invites viewers to ask, are they really separate from nature? How has their environment shaped them, and vice-versa? How are they stewarding the land that nourishes them?
Reed graduated summa cum laude from Mills College at Northeastern University with Honors in the Discipline of Studio Art. In 2025, Reed was the Program Assistant for Experience Design study abroad in Kyoto, Japan for Northeastern University’s Shoshin Dialogue of Civilizations Study Abroad program and will return to that role in 2026. Reed is currently teaching Comics at the Berkeley Painting Club and is also an Artist in Residence at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, California, where they using foraged clay to tell stories of the changing local landscape.
